Style News: Miley Cyrus chops off her iconic bun
If you are one of Miley’s many Twitter followers, you probably saw that she has killed the bun which used to take permanent residence on the top of her head. Honestly, I hated that bun. It grossed me out and looked filthy all the time. She’s a beautiful girl and I’m all for us getting to see her beautiful face but come on girl, that bun was ratchet.
We all had a little panic attack when she went blonde just a couple weeks ago- I for one LOVE the blonde. But now she amped it up by several notches by channeling Edie Sedgwick with her pixie cut.
My personal rating: I like it. Do I think she should keep it forever? Nah, I don’t like it so much it should be her new signature style. Honestly, my favorite haircut she’s had so far was her shoulder-length blunt cut with ombre highlights. But for now, summer is coming to an end and it’s almost time for us to all get a little edgy with fall ;] Go for it Miley. As long as you never bring that disgusting bun back.
BEAUTY ALERT: I’ve often talked about how difficult it can be to pull off colored eyelashes. BUT I saw this wonderful example of how it is done and thus all my fears drifted away. Allow me to break down the keys to this art:
Exhibit A) The skin is very simple. Just some foundation and bronzer. Nothing crazy. No dramatic blush or anything distracting from our main focus.
Exhibit B) The lips are almost bare. I know for the sake of a photo shoot they put pink on them, but they’re not a pop of color or anything. They’re a very natural color.
and finally, Exhibit C) The eyes the only part of the whole that we need to draw focus to. They’re so bright and full of life. They’re freakin’ neon green!!! What says “pop” more than neon green. The eyelashes themselves look to be teal/ green color. I think you can pull off any color (i’ve seen orange mascara before- awesome!) as long as you pair it with a color that is in the same family (ex: blue + green, orange + red or yellow, purple + pink), you know where I’m getting at.
It’s something fun to play with. Go grab a bunch of different mascaras and play. If you’re nervous, start off with something simple like blue mascara with a light dose of blue eyeshadow. Then get a little more daring next time ;]
XOXO
Re the Pixie
Get ready for the Olympics in style: Tonight’s the night! The beautiful mind of Danny Boyle has cooked up what is sure to be an outstanding opening ceremony. So, whether you are lucky enough to actually be attending the games, or if you’re like me and will just be watching from home, be sure to support your country’s team ;]

And lastly, one more Britain style ;]

Style Trend: Floral Umbrellas- I don’t know about your neck of the woods, but in my home town all we’re seeing is rain, rain, rain! It’s kind of a bummer right? I mean it’s supposed to be beautiful summer with the sun, and swimming, and flowers. Well, you can at least still take that last one with you in the rain.
If you’re experiencing the same weather situation as I am, try a fun floral umbrella to keep you dry and perky :]

The Bindi Trend: If you dig through style images right now you’ll notice within the past year, India has been an impressive influence on all things fashion. The big game changer probably happened with Chanel’s 2012 Indian inspired line. With vibrant jewels, dreadlocks, elegant facial jewelry, and deep colors this certainly got the ball rolling in our every day fashion. The most controversial piece of this style has been the Bindi trend.
A bindi is a jewel typically placed in the middle of one’s forehead in India. I’ll admit, I was poorly educated on them until recently when my friend’s Hindu mother explained it to me. They are worn as a way to adorn the largest chakra of the body- the mind. As the “Third Eye”, it is said to retain energy in humans and control one’s level of concentration. A bindi is personal as it’s main concern is your mind and aids in meditation.
Without writing an essay on what I learned, I’ll cut to the chase: I asked her, as a strong Hindu woman, “Are you offended when bindis are used as fashion statements”? And she responded with, “Not at all. If anything I like it because people these days are more sensitive to other’s views and when you see these Chanel women wearing bindis you want to learn about it. As long as people understand what it is and it’s history and importance, I have no problem with them wearing them”. She then gave me a bindi and I have to say, I’m very interested with Hindu culture now.
So, without giving me hate for being on team bindi, what are your thoughts? Are you okay with this or are you still not comfortable with it?
My newest fictional style icon is Daenerys of Game of Thrones. Though she’s often nude, when she is wearing clothes they’re amazing! Flowy gowns that sweep the floor. Sheer materials. Pale colors. Ugh! It’s all so beautiful. This pixie is totally in love with this wardrobe.

Amazing Spiderman nail polish from OPI ;D
The white one is called My Boyfriend Climbs Walls and the green one is called Just Spotted the Lizard. I want all the other colors now haha. Go grab yours anywhere OPI nail polish is sold.
I am so so soooo in love with this pink winged backpack by Lost Mannequin. If you love it you can get yours here
Style Trend: Pants with funky prints. Ugh I’m envious of everyone who lives in a climate where you get to wear pants in April. I love all these fabulous printed pants I’m seeing EVERYWHERE. If I didn’t live in Louisiana I’d be all over these babies. So, if you’re currently not sweating your tits off, grab a pair of striped, floral, lacey or any other printed pants you can find.

Fashion Trend: Beat the heat this summer like royalty. At this year’s Paris Fashion Week attendees were not seen fanning themselves with their programs. Instead they were given luxurious Duvelleroy hand fans like these. The idea of bringing these back is to bring back the over-the-top accessories.
QUICK TIP! Stay in style with your fan. Don’t limit yourself to the traditional colors and prints. Bright colors such as neons and fun prints like florals are all over the place right now. Why not try to find a fan in the same style?
